Top 5 Women’s Health Apps

Your monthly cycle can be thought of as a health report card. Whether your fertility goals include pregnancy or avoiding one, getting to know and support your cycle is key to optimal health. These five apps, all about women’s health, make it easier to know and take care of your body and your cycle.

Clue

  • What is it? Clue allows you to quickly and easily track periods, emotions, pain levels, sleep, cravings, skin appearance, and wellness habits. A great feature of Clue is the quarterly period review; you get a personalized review of your cycle and it  highlights anything out of the ordinary, so  you can bring it up with your doctor.

Kindara

  • What is it? Kindara is an ovulation tracker that utilizes the concepts of the  fertility awareness method. You can track cervical mucus, cervical position, basal temperature, and your period – all in this one app. You can see the charts of other women who have the same fertility goals as yours and access the community of other users for support.
  • Cost: Free

Natural Cycles

  • What is it? Natural Cycles helps you keep track of your ovulation, periods, and fertility. The app utilizes a very advanced algorithm to identify exact ovulation time and thus, tells you specifically when you need to use protection to prevent a pregnancy. It has been clinically tested with 99.5% effectiveness. The app also has a feature to help you plan a pregnancy, if that aligns with your family planning goals. You must take your basal temperature immediately upon waking each day, track your periods, and record your monthly ovulation test results.

Cycles

  • What is it? Cycles is the only period tracker app that wants to keep your partner up to date with your cycle! In addition to the traditional tracking features of period apps, partners can be invited to your account  and receive alerts of fertile days (based on an estimation of a typical 28 day cycle), as well as notifications of your symptoms and when your cycle begins.

Glow

  • What is it? Glow is a menstrual and ovulation tracker which also records  mood, symptoms, sex, and different medications. They offer a community of women, fertility analysis, and an intuitive period log. Some of the pro features are very convenient, such as PDF versions of your ovulation results and health data that you can sync to the cloud or   with Apple’s Health App.
  • Cost: Free with limited features, $7.99 per month, $3.99 per month for 1 year, $59.99 for lifetime access
