Nearly 75% of adults aged 20 years and older are overweight or obese while 88% of Americans are metabolically unhealthy. Knowing this, it’s probably no surprise the top 3 goals people set for themselves each year include exercise more, eat healthier, and lose weight. We know that losing excess weight can reduce your risk for heart disease, diabetes, reduce pain, improve mood, mobility, sex drive, and overall energy! Yet, the unfortunate truth is that 80% of people that try losing weight with a strict diet will regain some, or all, of the weight they lost within one year.
Why aren’t weight loss efforts more successful?

Motivation may be important to get you started, but it takes much more than that to see our goals come to fruition. To be successful long-term, we must learn what’s interfering with our success, and here are some key culprits:
- Hormone imbalances (e.g. high insulin)
- Nutrient deficiencies
- “Obesogens” – chemicals that tell your body to store fat
- Gut microbiome imbalances
- Eating at the wrong times
