Carly Leusner, MS, CNS, LDN

Carly is both a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) with a master’s in human nutrition from the University of Bridgeport and a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC). She completed additional training through Dr. Leslie Korn’s Institute for Integrative Medicine earning a certificate in Nutrition for Mental Health. She’s also completed foundational training with Weight Inclusive Dietitians and Nutritionists (WIND). She has been a student of herbalism for nearly 20 years and holds multiple certificates from the Clearpath School of Herbal Medicine and the Gaia School of Healing and Earth Education. She is currently pursuing additional training through the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy and working towards her Registered Herbalist credential with the American Herbalist Guild.

Before joining The UltraWellness Center team, Carly maintained a private practice, Acorn Kitchen Nutrition, caring for a broad range of clients, with a particular focus on mental health. Partnering with the People’s Medicine Project in Greenfield, MA, Carly focused on supporting clients with a variety of conditions including depression, anxiety, and/or substance use disorder through clinical work and a hands-on workshops series. She continues to work with the re-entry center in Greenfield, supporting those community members recently reintegrating from incarceration.

Carly has extensive professional experience both in the culinary arts and as an outdoor educator. In 2013 she co-founded and operated a culinary nutrition education venture, Acorn Kitchen. The project was focused on organizing and hosting numerous community wild food feasts, a wild food C.S.A., workshops, edible plant walks, and public talks on wildcrafting and foraging. Carly also spent 8 years as a chef, working alongside her longtime mentor Alice Cozzolino at “Alice’s Kitchen,” a farm-to-table prepared foods meal service and event catering business serving the Pioneer Valley.

Carly has been an avid explorer of flavor and healthy foods for most of her life. She still relishes time in the kitchen to unwind and loves to cook for her friends and family. When not working, Carly enjoys fishing & crabbing with her family in Rhode Island, hanging out with her nephews, gardening, and going on outdoor adventures with friends.
